The Underground Circus was created by Peter Boulanger and Ninon Parent, two former members of  Cirque Du Soleil, and alumni of Montreal's L'Ecole National du Cirque.

Peter and Ninon started the group as a way to have people to train with,  teaching any of their friends who were interested in the circus arts, sharing theirs skills just for fun.  After a couple of years, a few of their friend's skills had developed to the point where they asked Peter and Ninon if they could join in their shows.

There seemed to be a strong interest in the community for a circus group,  and The Underground Circus soon developed a reputation for their strong technique, innovative apperatus, and attention to detail.
